The first section of the monograph provides on overview of origins, nature, and activities of the Mafia in Sicily. The second section gives the FBI's interpretation of its transplantation to the United States. The monograph contains information about the mafia that the FBI's Central Research Section thought was critical knowledge for top echelon of federal law enforcement.
